We need a Web Developer

We need a Web Developer

18th January 2022

Do you want to work in a beautiful countryside environment? 40 acres of land to stretch the legs, a pond for chilling out at lunchtimes, and numerous local pubs for that all-important Friday beer or lunch.

Ease the daily stresses with our obligatory studio dog. Also, join in with our daily mindfulness and stretches.

Oh, and it might be handy if you do a bit of development work too!

You’ve got to know WordPress, and by that, we don’t mean “I’ve heard of it” – we mean have installed it on a server, built templates on your own theme (not a child theme), maybe even written your own plugin?

We’ve got an exciting 2022 ahead and a studio full of digital projects on the go right now.

What will you be doing?

You will be joining our lead developer and a creative team around you including technical, UX, digital design, and project management.

  • Building WP websites from the ground up
  • Creating bespoke themes from Adobe XD designs
  • Updating WP core on client schedules
  • Maintaining service level agreement

What do we need from you?

  • Proficient in HTML and CSS
  • Experience of GIT workflows
  • A “can do” attitude
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and develop

The ideal person will have a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in an agency environment due to the fast-paced nature of what we do here every day.

One huge point is that you need to be truly creative as it’s core to the nature of what we do. As a key member of the team, you’ll be involved in projects from the very start through to launch and beyond.

As a creative team, the expectation will be to work from our studio the majority of the time so you will need transport and be within commuting distance, but with the new way of working we’re not fixed to the old fashioned Mon to Fri, 9 to 5!

Our benefits include:

Flexible Working Hours
Who does 9-5 anymore? We all do what we have to do to get the job done. The studio is open 24/7 and you can do your work whenever you want. The core office hours are 10am-4pm; it’s up to you to manage the rest – just make sure you hit the minimum of 37.5 per week.

Team lunches down the pub
Teamwork is core to the success of the studio, so if we hit our quarterly target we like to get out on a Friday and enjoy the culinary delights of the local boozer. The house special has to be the burger and chips, but you can choose whatever you like!

Remote Working
We all have things that can’t be done at the weekends, dealing with the kids, pesky home deliveries with a 4-hour window! No problem here, just log on to our server and get cracking from home. If you need to do it often enough we’ll even chip in to your home broadband.

Birthday time
We love to celebrate things here so if your birthday falls on a working day then we’ll all head to the pub at lunchtime to raise a glass. Afterwards, you can take the rest of the day off on us. If your special day is on the weekend then we just shift the celebrations to a Friday!

Coffee better than Costa and Starbucks put together
A fully stocked Nespresso machine with more varieties than we can ever remember. What you don’t like coffee? Well, we can do tea, hot chocolate or a number of lovely soft drinks all on us.

What do you get?

  • Employer contribution pension scheme (kinda gotta these days)
  • Full Time contract (we want careers not just “jobs”)
  • Start Date – ASAP (we’re busy right now!!)
  • Salary – £21-24k (depending on experience)

What to do next?

Send us a copy of your CV along with links to any websites that you are proud of building, along with a paragraph or 2 of why you would be great for this role to careers@bopgun.com
